Famous for its crustaceans fished in the lakes of the region, Ambatolampy is also a culinary step not to be missed. Warm and communicative, the population excites our stops to Antsirabe proudly perched at 1500 m altitude. At once a spa town and a rickshaw kingdom, it is a delight for lovers of semi-precious stones.

Arrived in the picturesque village of Ambositra, we discover with emotion the wooden sculptures of the Zafimaniry villagers. Then, bypassing the hills of Imerina, is the Ranomafana National Park, a real primary forest that presents its many species of lemurs and birds in their natural environment. It is under the ravinala, bamboos and other tree ferns that we catch this strange fauna.

Day 5: RANOMAFANA - FIANARANTSOA

Back on the national 7, we arrive at Fianarantsoa, historical capital of the Betsileo rulers. Elegance and charm emerge from the narrow streets of the upper town, home to many churches and traditional houses. More quaint than ever, it is in the middle of a patchwork of rice fields that we discover vineyards at the origin of a great Malagasy wine!

Day 6: FIANARANTSOA - RANOHIRA

Discover the markets and paper mills in Ambalavao before continuing towards Ranohira and the Isalo National Park. Subjugated by a magnificent decoration of mineral and vegetal composition where canyons, caves and granite massifs carved by erosion are linked, we enter the doors of this "far-west tropical" recognized for its astonishing magic of lights and forms

Day 7: RANOHIRA

It is free that we organize our excursion with local naturalist guides in this majestic setting, where colors travel over time, turning from gray to red ocher over the hours. Following the chosen routes, our picnic in the bag, we opt for the classic excursion to the Makis Canyon, the sportier cave of the Portuguese or the famous Rats Canyon sheltering lemurs and chameleons. The pachypodiums symbolize this rare and endemic flora of the region while palm trees and baobabs accompany our steps to the picturesque "natural pool".
